Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities: They perform surgery and related produces on the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions to treat disease, injuries, or defects. They may also diagnose problems of the oral and maxillofacial regions. They perform surgery to improve function or appearence.

Salary: Their average annual salary is $232,870.

Education:  The surgical residence for oral and maxillofacial surgeons are usually four to six years. After completion of the residency, surgeons can take a written and oral exam to become board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The second path is to earn dual degrees as both a dentist and medical doctor.
